Celebrating World Wi-Fi Day 2026 | 18 June 2026

About The Conference
Broadband India Forum is organizing World Wi-Fi Day 2026 to celebrate the transformative role of Wi-Fi in advancing India’s digital inclusion, innovation, and economic growth agenda. The conference will deliberate on the growing importance of Public Wi-Fi, PM-WANI, Open Roaming, and the urgent need for exploiting the recently delicensed 6 GHz band to strengthen India’s digital connectivity ecosystem. The theme of the conference is
“Unlocking 6 GHz: Powering India’s Next Wireless Leap.”
The primary objective of the conference is to bring together key policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, technology innovators, and ecosystem stakeholders to examine how next-generation Wi-Fi, public broadband access, and unlicensed 6 Ghz spectrum can accelerate India’s transition toward a digitally empowered and connected economy.
As India moves rapidly toward a digitally connected future, Public Wi-Fi under the PM-WANI framework has emerged as a powerful enabler of affordable broadband access, especially for underserved communities, small businesses, students, and rural users. At the same time, delicensing the 6 GHz band represents a critical step in enabling faster speeds, lower latency, and next-generation Wi-Fi capabilities essential for AI-driven applications, immersive technologies, Industry 4.0, smart enterprises, and high-capacity broadband networks.
By fostering this important discussion, the conference seeks to contribute to India’s vision of digital empowerment and support policy–industry dialogue on expanding public Wi-Fi ecosystems, enabling open and ubiquitous connectivity, and unlocking the 6 GHz spectrum for unlicensed use. The conference will be graced by national and international speakers, policymakers, industry experts, innovators, and investors who will share their insights on India’s next phase of wireless connectivity and digital growth.
Key Themes and Discussion Areas
The event will feature discussions on several key and emerging themes shaping India’s next phase of wireless connectivity and digital inclusion, including:
1. Unlocking 6 GHz: Powering India’s Next Wireless Leap
Deliberations on the exploitation of the 6 GHz band which has been recently unlicensed to support faster speeds, lower latency, higher network capacity, and next-generation Wi-Fi services across India.
2. Redefining Connectivity with 6 GHz
Discussions on how 6 GHz can transform wireless connectivity for consumers, enterprises, public spaces, smart cities, and emerging digital applications requiring high-capacity broadband.
3. Public Wi-Fi Infrastructure for Inclusion
Focus on the role of public Wi-Fi infrastructure in bridging the digital divide and empowering rural communities, students, small businesses, and citizens with affordable broadband access.
4. PM-WANI & Open Roaming: Catalysts for Ubiquitous Connectivity
Explore how PM-WANI and Open Roaming can enable seamless, affordable, and secure public Wi-Fi access, while expanding connectivity across underserved and high-footfall areas.
