About The Conference

BIF is organizing the 1st Convergent Conference on Subsea Cable and Digital Cloud Infrastructure in India on Tuesday, 24th February 2026, at the Shangri-La Hotel, New Delhi. The conference will deliberate on the importance of subsea cable systems and cloud infrastructure for India and the world, and their impact on the global digital economy, with a special focus on India. The theme of the conference is “Connecting Continents, Scaling Digital Clouds.”

The primary objective of the conference is to bring together key policymakers and industry leaders to examine how subsea cables, cable landing stations, and cloud infrastructure can further strengthen India’s internet backbone and position India as a global data transit hub. Subsea cables carry over 90% of global data traffic, while cloud infrastructure is critical to serving consumers and enterprises worldwide, therefore, these are critical infrastructure for the nations. The exponential growth in internet traffic—enabled largely by subsea cables and cloud infrastructure—highlights both their centrality to digital inclusion and the urgency of focused policy–industry dialogue on this subject.

By fostering this important discussion, we seek to contribute to India’s vision of digital empowerment and gain insights from key policymakers, to understand the impact and future of subsea cables and digital cloud infrastructure on the Indian Digital Economy through this unique Conference in New Delhi. The conference will be graced by international & national speakers as well as investors to share their insights on these twin subjects.

Key questions being explored

This conference will explore, among others, the following key questions:

1. Economic role and national positioning

  • How do subsea cable systems and digital cloud infrastructure drive the digital economy, and why does their proliferation matter for India’s growth and competitiveness?
  • What policy and regulatory changes are required for India to emerge as a global data transit hub and attract sustained international investment?

2. Strategy and national priority

  • Is subsea cable infrastructure a national strategic priority or a business-driven requirement, and how should India balance these perspectives?

3. Domestic network and capacity

  • Is India’s existing optical fiber backbone adequate to meet the requirements of inter–data center connectivity, particularly for hyperscale data centers?
  • How can India scale its subsea cable network while simultaneously developing in country operations, maintenance, and repair capabilities?

4. Technology and innovation

  • What key innovations are emerging around subsea cables and data centers (e.g., architecture, technology, sustainability, financing models)?

5. Security and resilience

  • What strategies are needed to enhance the security and resilience of India’s internet infrastructure and international connectivity in the face of growing geopolitical and cyber risks?

Who should join the conference?

Senior government officials, regulators, international organisations, subsea cable and data center operators, cloud service providers, internet service providers (ISPs), National Long-Distance Operators (NLDOs) and International Long-Distance Operators (ILDOs), telecom operators, infrastructure investors, technology companies, and domain experts interested in the future of India’s digital connectivity and infrastructure.

Register to be part of this pioneering conversation on securing and expanding India’s international connectivity!

Note: Participation is Free, as always.
